So I have been trying to tell myself that I don’t have to try to get everyone to do things the way I would or the way I think it should be. I believe that we all have a little of that in us….admit it, you do. I have to keep reminding myself that we are all different and yes, that is a good thing. Not everyone thinks the way I do and does things the way I would, that doesn’t mean the way they do them is incorrect, just different. I have been trying to do better driving. And by that I mean that when someone cuts me off or gets to close behind me (and that happens alot believe me), I have been trying to forgive their actions and let them go on their way. The faster they get away from me, the better off I am!
I have been trying to be nice and if they need to get in front of me to maybe make the next turn, I let them in so they can continue their travels. I have let people go ahead of me in line in the stores, I try to be kind to people as we navigate thru the aisles. I even try to throw out a compliment to someone cause everyone likes to hear something nice even if it’s just to compliment their nail job or a shirt they are wearing. I have also paid for the person’s drink behind me in line at the 7-11. It’s not much, but it makes me feel better and maybe someday they will pass it along.
Now I’m not saying to “lay down” and let people walk all over you, not by any means. And I’m not saying to yell and scream at someone if they have done something wrong to you. Maybe they are having a bad day or don’t feel good or had a fight with a loved one. As the saying goes, walking in someone else’s shoes…….. Sometimes doing the nice thing makes you feel better than the person on the receiving end. And if it makes you feel better, then why not do it! It can even be something as simple as when you pass someone as you’re walking your dog and jogging by, just say hi, nod your head and smile or wave. Since I’ve been doing this I’ve noticed more people starting to do it and returning the wave.
Just trying to get a few more people to do the kind thing, isn’t that what you would like someone to do to you? Pay someone a compliment and be sincere about it, watch the smile on their face when you do!
