How many of us have had to deal with big corporations for either phone or internet or something to do around home? And how tired of it are you?? If you’re like me, really tired of the nonsense. I have recently had to go through that experience….again! I had to deal with a phone company over internet problems recently and am extremely disappointed but not surprised.
I first was told there was no outage in our area, then I was informed that it would be a week and a half to get someone out to even look at it! I explained to them that I had an internet business and it was shut down due to this, like I thought that would speed it up any. The first guy I spoke to said he would escalate it and someone should be out and call within 48 hours. I called the next day since I hadn’t heard anything and wanted to make sure that they would be out that evening and was told by the “new” customer service person that they can’t do that and it would still be the original 12 days. He did have an appointment for 2 days sooner so I took that and explained once again about my business and he pretty much said there wasn’t anything they could do.
My plan was to call and bug the you know what out of them until they took what I said seriously. And found someone that actually knew what they were talking about. The runaround with these people sometimes is crazy.
So now we are on day three with no internet and I find out that the rest of the neighborhood has called and registered complaints also and finally got ahold of someone who came out to take a look….and guess what???? There was a big outage just like I told them and was pretty much called a liar. I told them I couldn’t be the only one in the neighborhood that had a line cut. They are installing fiber optic and cut the line. When I explained to them that it was pretty difficult to cut one little miniscule line with my name on it and no one else’s but yes, they said that was what happened.
So here comes 2 pickup trucks and 2 larger trucks with cranes on them to take a look. And what do you know but they actually found that the line had been cut after all!!! This repair took them 6 hours to fix once they got started on it, and not once did they send a text to acknowledge that there was a problem or that they were even fixing it.
My problem with companies like this is they don’t care anymore about the people who are paying their paycheck and neither do the big wigs! As long as they get their money, they are good. It is extremely frustrating dealing with people like this especially since if we are 2 days late making a payment, we are punished for it in the form of a late payment and sometimes interest. Am I right? But when I mentioned getting a credit or some other form of acknowledgement for being down, that is unheard of. We don’t have the ability to put this back on some of them like they do us but believe me if we could……I would let them have it. I finally got a credit of a whole $3.00! Cause that makes up for my inconvenience of dealing with you!
Not sure how you feel, but I’m real tired of telling people how to do their jobs properly. I’m not being controlling I just know how a person should be treated…like a human being and they aren’t doing it. They have a rehearsed speech they say and try to get you off the phone as quickly as possible. They need to learn how to listen to us and they should be given the authority to fix the problem or a supervisor should be close by and available to handle the situation if it is over the representatives head.
In conclusion, I’m trying to say we need to stop putting more money in their pockets and support the smaller companies as much as you can. They still care about the people that got them where they are and will show it many times over. You may not get the smaller price from them but you will gain more in customer service and they will go above and beyond to make you happy and find what you need if they can.
